Volcanoes, floods, sinkholes


It's a week of natural disasters of all types from all over the world.

Before and after images of the Nargis Cyclone that hit Burma show how much of the country is under water [right: NASA/MODIS Rapid Response Team]. An extensive set of maps and analyses are posted at the International Charter Space and Major Disasters site.

Northeast of Houston, a sinkhole [below: MSNBC] sucked down power poles and a tanker, as shown on video from MSNBC.

Update - CNN has striking footage of the walls collapsing.

MSNBC also has a short segment of aerial footage of the Chaiten volcano in southern Chile erupting.
