Dr. Colette Bos, a Mesa geologist and junior high school teacher is "one of 103 mathematics and science teachers nationwide who have been awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching' according to a report in the Arizona Republic. She will receive $10,000 and a trip to DC to receive the award and meet with members of Congress and science agencies.

Prior to beginning her teaching career 22 years ago, she worked as "a laboratory investigator for Chevron's mining division and as a field geologist on mining and engineering projects in Western states."

Here's more evidence that a geology degree will help take you a long way in life.
